Bardwell in Roman Times

Bardwell in Roman Times

The Romans occupied the land in this area, with a camp between Ixworth and Pakenham. They had a mill on the site of the existing Pakenham watermill. Roman items have been found in Bardwell in several locations. There are at least two Roman villas in the locality.
