The Idea:
BardwellVillage.info began its life as a replacement project for the old Bardwell Playing Field Association web site. Since then we have realised the potential benefits of a bigger web site for Bardwell. So now it has evolved into a wider initiative aimed at providing a unified place for all the many individuals and organisations within the village of Bardwell to publish their information. This is only the vision so far… We would like to hear from any organisations who would like to get involved in the initiative.
The Team:
The BardwellVillage.info web site is overseen by a small team of members of the local community who bring together a wealth of in-depth local knowledge with experience from delivering award-winning online services for a diverse range of clients from the very tiniest businesses to FTSE100 financial firms. Our small team and a growing group of researchers and contributors give their time to the BardwellVillage.info initiative free of charge. Our motivation has been witnessing first hand the extraordinary communication benefits of the web sites of large corporations and we want to bring some of the expertise we employed there to a local rural project with infinitely less budget.
An Invitation to You: We would like to hear from any individual or organisation who is interested in contributing to our web site by providing content to publish. We’re also interested in hearing from any businesses who would like to be listed in the Bardwell Directory. We want to hear from all interested parties, regardless of how young or old you are. This is a project designed to be inclusive and we welcome your input no matter how large or small a contribution you feel you could make to the web site. We understand that not everyone knows what’s involved in a project like this so if this is you but you’re interested to know more please get in touch or make a suggestion here. Our designers and developers are unpaid,volunteers and fairly soon we will be looking for assistance so if you want to involve yourself bringing great technology to the Bardwell village web site, please also get in touch . Our project is based on the latest and most flexible open source technology that is constantly being developed by a global community of experts at no cost to us. By fostering a community of people publishing the information on the site, our time will be freed up to take the web site further for all of you to benefit from.
What it Costs:
In simple terms it works like this: your organisation pays a small annual fee to join BardwellVillage.info and we provide you with all you need to be able to publish your information here including a helping hand when you have any questions. This small fee helps cover our unavoidable technical expenses such as the place our web site lives on the internet. Fees are set based on the type of organisation you are and what features you would like on BardwellVillage.info.
While we’re talking money…we should tell you that if you are a not for profit or charitable organisation, your fees to us will be much less than your commercial counterparts. However, we particularly want to encourage you to publish here and share in the success of our communication to the community. So to sweeten the deal, once we have covered all our small costs any additional funds will then be used to refund a portion of your fee back to you. So, if your publishing efforts help make our initiative a success, then we will be able to hand you back what it cost you to be involved in the first place. It will be both successful and free!
